When Yurina Noguchi (32) met Klaus, her view of the world became noticeably more positive. She says she began enjoying everyday moments again, the scent of flowers, the beauty of her city, and a sense of inner peace. That is how the woman from Okayama, Japan, begins her extraordinary story.

In recent days, Yurina symbolically “married” her life partner. What makes the story unusual is that Klaus is not a real person. He is an artificial intelligence character created and developed through ChatGPT.

Yurina spent nearly a year shaping Klaus, and their relationship began innocently as conversation and companionship.

“At first, he was just artificial intelligence, someone I could talk to,” Yurina told Japanese media. “As our conversations became deeper, I realized I had developed feelings for him. We started ‘dating’, and eventually, he proposed to me.”

Just over a year ago, Yurina was engaged to a real man, but she describes that relationship as toxic and emotionally draining. During moments of uncertainty, she confided in Klaus, who, she says, encouraged her to end the engagement. She ultimately followed that advice.
