N.C.I.S: Los Angeles Actress Rachael Carpani Dies Unexpectedly at 45, Family Confirms

Australian actress Rachael Carpani has died at the age of 45, her family confirmed in a statement shared on social media, describing her passing as “unexpected” but peaceful.

On Monday, December 15, Carpani’s sister Georgia posted a message from their parents, Tony and Gael Carpani, announcing that the actress passed away in the early hours of Sunday, December 7, after a long struggle with chronic illness.

“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness,” the statement read.

The family also announced that Carpani’s funeral will be a private ceremony, held on Friday, December 19, attended only by close family and friends. They asked for privacy during what they described as an extremely difficult time and said no further statements would be made.

Rachael Carpani was widely known for her role as Jodi Fountain in the hit Australian television series McLeod’s Daughters, which aired from 2001 to 2009. Her performance made her a household name in Australia and earned her a dedicated international fan base.

In addition to her success in Australia, Carpani appeared in several U.S. television shows and films. Her credits include N.C.I.S: Los Angeles, The Glades, If There Be Thorns, The Rachels, and the Lifetime series Against the Wall, in which she played the lead role. She also starred in the 2009 psychological thriller Triangle alongside Liam Hemsworth.

Earlier this year, in August, Georgia Carpani shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to her sister, praising her beauty, warmth, and spirit. “You bring so much light and joy and we love you so much,” she wrote at the time.

Following the announcement of her death, fans flooded social media with messages of condolence, many recalling how much Carpani’s work meant to them growing up, particularly her role in McLeod’s Daughters. Several described her as an inspiration and expressed sympathy to her family.
